Strawberry

Yesterday I got a call from Amelia's doctor. Let's just say when the doctor calls you himself it gets the heart going. He was calling about the strawberry on her back. After her 4 month appointment he was worried about the size and how much it had grown (developed a couple weeks after she was born) so he researched it and called some dermatologist.

He was calling to tell me what he has learned. It turns out that these splotches are placenta tissue that attach to the skin. They actively grow until the age of 2 and then start to shrink and go away by age 7-8. At this point we have nothing to worry about because the tissue is healthy. We just need to watch if it starts to "die" or grows "islands" around it. If these things happen we just laser it.

I appreciated that the doctor took the time to look into the strawberry and give me a call. All in all, it is just something she is going to have for a little while. Like Wade said....her mom has funky fingers, she can have something funky on her back. If this is all we have to worry about health wise in her life, THANK YOU
GOD!!!!

He's a Dad and a Grad!!

This weekend is not only special because it is Wade's first Father's Day, but also because he is finished with getting his MBA. It has been 2 years of hard work, but he did it!! We couldn't be more prouder with his perseverance while traveling the world, being a new dad, a husband, son, and so many other ventures during that time.

Wade, we love you and appreciate all you do for our family and making sure we have the best! Congratulations!


Also, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to the special men in our lives. Grandpa (Daryl), Papa (Fred) and Kyle. You have all shown us what good fathers look like. Wade is lucky to have you as role models and teachers! We love you.

First Meal

It's still a little early but with Amelia being advanced for her age :) we decided to try some food (rice cereal). I got the go ahead from the doctor at her 4 month appointment, but I was going to wait until she was 5 months old. However, after talking to a friend about it I thought "what the heck!". The purpose of rice cereal isn't really for nutrition but to teach swallowing and everything else that goes with eating. I am also hoping that it will help her swallow her spit instead of it going over all her clothes (completely selfish for me and laundry). She seemed to like it, but most fell into her bib and not her mouth. Like they say..opractice makes perfect! Also, if she is anything like her daddy and mommy the only issue with eating is knowing when to stop.

On the road again.

This past weekend was our last road trip for the month. We now have a couple weeks home before we hit the road again. Let's just say Amelia is becoming a pro at spending time in her car seat. She has learned the art of the car nap, just like her mom.

This past trip took us to Woodland for Pmac and Adrianna's wedding. Wade was a groomsman, so we went Friday for the rehearsal. The wedding was wonderful, food great and company the best. I wish I hadn't forgotten my camera so I could have taken pictures and shared. Congratulations to Mr and Mrs McDonald!

While on these trips, Wade has come up with a father/daughter trick for when they decide to join the circus or just show off. Be warned...!

Run Wade, RUN!

Over the weekend Wade and Jake participated in the Moses Lake Family Triathlon. This was Wade's first Tri and he did great. Wade and Jake swam, biked and ran for the "sprint" distances. They were using this race as a practice for one at the end of the month in Bellingham at Lake Padden. That race is 2x as long (Olympic).

Thank you to the Blys for letting us stay with them at their lake place. We had an awesome time and ate well even though the weather could have been better (it was thunder/lightning showers). I think next year there is going to be more then Wade and Jake doing the race. Jake finishing his race. He came in 13th overall and third in his age bracket. He looked awesome and had great transitions. One thing about Wade, he knows how to finish strong. I thought he was going to knock the poor lady over! Also, notice his shoes. He ran in Converse!!

4 months old!!

Tomorrow Amelia will be 4 months old. This morning we went to her wellness appointment and got her second round of shots. Mom and baby did much better this time around :). Amelia is hitting her normal developmental activities and we got the go ahead to start trying some foods. She is still a big girl, 95% in length and 90% in weight, and is thriving!

I have also really been enjoying all the "first" lately. She is so much fun with big smiles, laughing and talking (choos, ahhs and goos) a lot. The doctor also told me it was time to start baby proofing the house as she starts to move around more. It is crazy to think how fast time has flown by and we are already at the point. When she was an infant I looked forward to this point. I am now hoping it slows down and so I can really enjoy my baby.

Chelan

Over the weekend, we headed across the mountains to Wapito Point in Chelan. My family went to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday early. His actual birthday in on the 17th, but none of us kids will be around to help him blow-out his candles. So we surprised him by renting a house for the weekend. He thought he was going on a work retreat with my mom's office! To say the least, he was happy to be with us.

This was Amelia's first "vacation". She did good on the 4+ hour car ride and really enjoyed being with her cousins and family. I have to say we did over pack, but now we know what we need for our next trip. I was worried being so far from home and all the "stuff" we have there, but it all worked out great. Wade and I were talking on the way home about how vacations will be so much more fun with her.
The birthday dinner! Kyle made his famous Greek style shrimp. I totally over ate, but worth it. To break up the ride we stopped in Leavenworth. Here is Dad and Amelia at the bratwurst stand. Amelia's first time swimming. She loved being in the water! Wade kept wanting to dunk her but I put my foot down on that one. She could have stayed in the water for hours, but it was HOT out and the sun was beating down.


We had a picnic at the park. A little worn out, Amelia took a nap in the wagon.
